Swapping the tomato base for barbecue sauce changes the pizza more than any topping does. It is sweeter, it browns differently in the oven, and it divides opinion sharply — people who like it order it repeatedly, people who do not never order it twice.
What you are actually getting
A barbecue sauce base, mozzarella, grilled chicken pieces and red onion, sometimes with a drizzle of additional sauce after the bake. The chicken is pre-cooked and diced, so it heats through rather than cooking on the pizza.
Where it fits on value
Sits alongside the other chicken specialties in the upper-middle of the price range. Because barbecue sauce is a base substitution rather than a topping, some stores treat it as a free swap on a build-your-own — which, if yours does, is a cheaper route to the same pizza than ordering the specialty.
Ordering notes
Barbecue sauce contains sugar and sugar burns. Do not order this one well done; a standard or light bake protects the sauce from catching at the edges. This is the one pizza on the menu where our usual well-done advice is wrong.
It also travels badly. The sauce continues to soak into the base in the box, and a thirty-minute delivery produces a noticeably softer pizza than collecting it yourself. If you have the option, this is a good candidate for carryout.
